MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset is expected to be launched in October. Ahead of launch, new leaks claim the mobile platform’s graphics processing unit (GPU) will perform significantly better than Apple’s latest chipsets and flagship Snapdragon processors. MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC is said to have 86% higher output than Apple A18 Pro in the Vulcan benchmark. Likewise, the output is also said to be higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.
The leaker Digital Chat Station claimed on Weibo that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset’s GPU achieved a score of 134fps in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulcan benchmark test. This is said to be 86% higher than the Apple A18 Pro chipset equipped in the iPhone 16 Pro models. The score is also 41% higher than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powered by the Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
It’s worth noting that the Aztec test is designed to recreate a 3D game-like environment to push the GPU to its limits. Since Vulcan is a high-performance graphics application programming interface (API), testing is considered quite intensive. It’s worth noting that this test is part of the GFXBench suite.
One thing to note here, though, is that the GPU on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC was tested for its raw performance, which will inevitably show higher performance peaks. Since the test environment is unknown, even if the information is true, the same performance may not be achieved in real-life scenarios. Additionally, once equipped on a smartphone and further optimized, the output may be lower than the stated level.
A report last month claimed that MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset offers a 30% improvement in CPU performance over its predecessor. The mobile platform is said to require only 30% of the power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset to accomplish similar tasks. If true, this would also make the processor more efficient than its predecessor.
