Tensions have reached a peak again in Manipur. Also on Sunday, an angry mob vandalized the ancestral house of BJP MP Kongkham Robindro in Imphal. A day earlier, on Saturday, an angry mob also resorted to violence, attacking the houses of several MLAs and ministers. Many vehicles were also set on fire. Six districts in the state have banned the internet.
The Press Trust of India quoted police sources as saying that mobs stormed Robin Dero’s home in Mayan Imphal and demanded to see him, but he was not at home. Therefore, his father told the crowd that whatever message they conveyed, he would convey it to his MLA son. The police claimed that the goons wanted to know the stance of the BJP Justice Ministry on the recent developments in the state.
The mob also attacked the houses of MLAs and ministers on Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, part of the MLA’s residence in Imphal Sirap Patra, one of the five wards of the Imphal Valley, was vandalized and burned by a mob. An indefinite curfew was imposed in the area after people attacked the homes of three state ministers and six provincial councilors.
Violence breaks out after bodies of six people are found
Tension arose in Manipur when the bodies of three women and three children were found in Giribam district. After the news reached the people, an angry mob immediately launched violent protests. Angry mobs attacked the homes of three ministers and six MLAs in the state on Saturday.
Amit Shah’s big meeting in Delhi
On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reviewed the security situation in Manipur and directed senior security officials to take all possible steps to ensure peace in the state. According to sources, the meeting was convened immediately after the home minister returned from canceling an election rally in Maharashtra. In this meeting, he directed the officials to take all possible steps. The Shah is believed to be holding another major meeting with senior officials on Monday.
