Delhi Police has arrested two people, including his former employee, in connection with the robbery of Rs 2 crore cash and gold jewelery from a former DRDO scientist in Delhi’s Rohini area. Let me tell you that the incident occurred at around 12:50 noon on October 18 in the Prashant Vihar area, when five people pretending to be couriers broke into the scientist’s home.
This employee turned out to be the mastermind of the robbery
According to police, the arrested accused include Jasmin Singh alias Gifty (42) and Gaurav Kwatra (36), a former employee of the scientist. Gaurav gives the information about the scientist’s house to the robbers. Police said they are looking for other defendants in the case.
The scientist and his wife were home alone at the time of the incident, the news agency reported. One of the defendants contacted the scientist with the pretext of providing some documents for delivery. He then pushed the scientist inside and sealed his mouth with a knife. The criminals then looted his son’s cash and jewellery.
Couple held hostage
Reports say the robbers took the couple hostage and searched both floors of the house before escaping with cash and jewelry. While escaping, they locked the couple in a room.
After receiving information about the incident, the police registered a case and started an investigation. The accused was identified during a review of CCTV footage from the area. Although he hid the license plate of his motorcycle, the police used the video to identify the license plate of his vehicle while investigating the route ahead.
This is how criminals are caught
Later, the police arrested the two accused from Karol Bagh and recovered Rs 10.15 lakh in cash, Rs 2.89 lakh deposited in a bank account and newly purchased mobile phones worth Rs 1.38 lakh from them.
According to information, Kamal (22) and Ashish (22) were intercepted near Narela flyover. Both were carrying two bags filled with cash, containing a total of Rs 7.6 million. Thereafter, the fifth accused Pawan Singh (22) was also arrested and Rs 3.4 million in cash was recovered from him.
During interrogation, accused Pawan stated that he along with five of his accomplices planned to rob the scientist’s house. Gaurav surveyed the house and gave them all the information.
