Man was arrested in an attempt to open an emergency door twice on a Sydney-even flight

A person has been arrested and a cinde-bound AirAsia X aircraft has been arrested after trying to open the emergency exit gate of the mid-flight. The incident occurred on Saturday (April 5), as it was a route from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia as flight D7220, according to a report. Sydney Morning Herald.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said that a person identified as Jordan’s national, Shadi Tiseer Alsaadeh initially tried to open a rear emergency door. After the cabin crew and passengers intervened, where he attacked a member of an airline staff, Alsayadeh was taken to a seat in the middle of the aircraft. However, he allegedly tried to open another emergency exit door in the middle.

The AFP said Alsayadeh has been accused of two cases of endangering the safety of an aircraft and attacking a cabin crew.

“This man’s actions could have the tragic consequences, and passengers and airplane staff should not have been kept untreated, violently or dangerous behavior on flights,” said AFP’s DAT acting suitable suitable Supta Davina Copelin said.

“AFP will not hesitate to take action against those who are engaged in criminal behavior on airplanes, especially where this behavior has the ability to endanger passengers, crew or flight safety.”

The airline issued a statement saying that its professional trained cabin crew took necessary steps to secure the situation and ensure the safety of all on the board.

Alsadeh’s lawyer argued that his customer works for the Jordan government in nuclear waste management and had no previous criminal history. The lawyer said that Alsayadeh had no memory of the incident as he had taken two medicines, pseudophaedrin and a sleeping pill, and also consumed alcohol before riding in the flight.

Alsaaydeh is expected to appear in a local court on Wednesday (April 9).
