Man-Eater Wolves Terror in Bahraich: Call it an old saying or a film dialogue… when a lion becomes a man-eater, it should be shot. The forest department employees and officers and the entire government machinery were trying to catch the man-eating wolves alive in Bahraich, UP. Now they have been ordered to shoot the man-eating wolves as soon as they see them. This has happened because these wolves have tasted human blood. The situation in the affected areas remains very critical.

Use of thermal imaging systems and drone cameras
After a hard day’s work, when people should be in their homes, they are forced to roam the streets of the villages with sticks and weapons. Vigilance is being done throughout the night, somewhere drone cameras equipped with thermal imaging systems are being flown, somewhere public representatives armed with weapons are looking for the pug marks of man-eating wolves. And somewhere the forest department and the police are roaming around and making announcements. Telling people that their own safety is in their own hands.

Orders to shoot wolves
People have to sleep inside their homes and not outside and that too after locking the doors and windows properly. But despite all these efforts, you can guess how bad the situation is from the fact that now the matter has gone beyond surveillance, firecrackers, cages and unconsciousness and has reached directly to bullets. That is, the government has decided that if these wolves are not caught, they can be shot.

Terror of wolves in 35 villages
Some pictures have come from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. About 35 villages of the district are trembling with the terror of man-eating wolves for about one and a half months. Along with the villagers, everyone from the government administration to the forest department is working day and night, but still a wolf comes from some thicket, fields, streets or broken doors and takes away an innocent child sleeping in the house.

More than sixty attacks by wolves
In just one and a half months, wolves have killed a woman and 10 children in this area. And despite all the efforts of the government and administration, many wolves are still roaming freely. If we talk about attacks, then in six months these wolves have attacked more than sixty humans. And that is why now the government has decided that if these wolves are not caught or it is not possible to cage them or tranquilize them with a tranquilizer gun, then they will be directly shot.

The weapons are ready to spit fire
Needless to say, the villagers who have been living under the shadow of death and fear for more than a month have heaved a sigh of relief with this decision of the government. Along with this decision, the forest department has also deployed its teams with weapons in the villages. The police have been roaming in the villages with weapons since the beginning. But till now these weapons were silent keeping in mind the safety of the environment and wildlife, but now these weapons are ready to spit fire to get rid of the wolves who have become another name for death.

try to lock me in a cage
It is not that the forest department is not serious about this matter. Ever since the terror of wolves has increased, the forest department people are constantly chasing these bloody bodies. Teams of more than two hundred forest workers are trying to locate wolves in different villages and lock them in cages. The help of drone cameras is being taken. Special corridors are being made to surround the wolves. Wolves are being forced to go in a particular direction with the help of firecrackers.

When will I get liberation?
The forest department has been successful in catching four wolves. But according to the department, two man-eaters are still out of its grasp and the same wolves are attacking humans. However, after the tenth death of a three-year-old girl in Surat in the Mahsi tehsil of the district, the villagers have claimed to have seen not two but three wolves. In such a situation, the question is also about the number of wolves. And it is difficult to say right now when these 35 villages of the district will get complete relief from this terrible problem.

CM spoke to the officials of the affected districts
The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that now the state’s forest minister himself has reached Bahraich to rid the people of wolves. On Monday, CM Yogi Adityanath held a meeting through video conferencing with senior officials of 11 districts of the state that are facing the war between humans and animals and gave necessary orders. These districts include Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Shravasti, Moradabad, Hapur, Sitapur, Gonda, Meerut, Bijnor and Bareilly. While Bahraich is the most troubled by the attack of wolves, now some cases of wolf attacks have also come to light in Sitapur. However, if officials are to be believed, these may not be wolves but jackals.

The beginning of the exodus
Aaj Tak has been standing with the people of Bahraich who are facing the terror of wolves since day one. Amidst the new situation, our team visited those areas which are most troubled by the wolf attacks. Samarth also reached those interior areas with the villagers in a tractor for surveillance, where wolves may be hiding in the fields. The most painful thing is that now people are forced to leave their homes due to the fear of wolves. That means migration has started. Now when will this terror of wolves end, whether the wolves will be caught or they will die by getting shot by the government, no one knows at the moment.
