Maharashtra ticket distribution sparks uproar, Shiv Sena UBT supporters protest, Athawale workers angry

Demonstration by Republican workers and Ramdas Athawale.

The debate over seat allocation in Maharashtra shows no signs of stopping. While Republican Party of India (Athawale) workers were angry over Mahayuthi’s seat allotment, supporters of the Shiv Sena (UBT) also staged demonstrations. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) workers are angry over Maha Vikas Aghadi offering ticket to Ajay Choudhary, MP from Mumbai’s Lalbagh Shivdi assembly seat. Thousands of Shiv Sainiks took to the streets to protest and raise slogans.

Ajay Chaudhry (Uddhav Thackeray faction) has emerged as the candidate for Lalbagh Shivdi seat in Mumbai, but there is huge dissatisfaction against him. Party workers said the party had promised to provide tickets to Sudhir Salvi but Uddhav Thackeray’s party reneged on its promise.

Sudhir Salvi is the head of the Shivdi Sabha organization of Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray. He was also appointed as coordinator for the Lok Sabha elections but the party did injustice to him.

Demonstrations for Ajay Choudhary’s candidacy

There was a lot of noise and slogans outside the party office of Lalbagh Uddhav Thackeray. In fact, Sudhir Salvi was the secretary of the Raja Ganpati Mandal in Lalbagh.

He has strong control over the region. Due to his association with Lalbagh Ganpati Mandal, he had his own popularity and social services among the people. In this case, Ajay Chaudhary got the penalty instead of Sudhir Salvi. This internal discord that started within the party has now spilled onto the streets and in this scenario, things are not going to be easy for Uddhav on the Shivdi Lalbagh seat.

Republican staff also expressed dissatisfaction

On the other hand, dissatisfied workers of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) raised the slogan of “shared seats” against the grand alliance. He said there were serious injustices in the distribution of seats among Republicans. Republican staff decided to boycott the major league campaign until a sizable deal on seat allocation was reached.

He said that after waiting for two days, the Republican Party will decide whether to run between Mahayuthi or Maha Vikas Aghadi. The final decision on this will be made by Republican National Chairman Ramdas Attawal.

Maharashtra Republican Youth League president Pappu Kagode, Mumbai president Siddharth Kasare, state organizing secretary Parshuram Wadekar and many other leaders led the protest.
