Clashes are ongoing between security forces and Naxalites in Bamlagar Tehsil, a border area in Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district adjoining Chhattisgarh state. According to information received so far, four Naxalites were reportedly killed. According to sources, security force personnel were also injured during the operation. Sources said that anti-Naxal special force C-60 has been dispatched to the encounter site. The Naxalites are likely to suffer heavy losses in this encounter. Maharashtra will hold assembly elections next month. The meeting was considered important in light of the election.
Naxalite woman arrested in Telangana with Rs 1 crore reward
Recently, the Telangana police arrested a Naxalite woman and the police offered a reward of Rs 1 crore. The accused woman was identified as Sujata. She was involved in many major Naxalite incidents that took place in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. According to police, the woman was arrested when she went to Mahabub Nagar in Hyderabad, Telangana for medical treatment.
According to sources, Sujata is the widow of Naxalite leader Koteshwar Rao, alias Kishanji. She came to Bastar from Bangladesh in 2011 after Kishanji was killed by police. Thereafter, she became active here and held many positions, including in charge of the Bastar Divisional Committee.
Extortion gang busted in Jharkhand, 6 arrested
Recently, in Lathar, Jharkhand, the police busted a large-scale extortion gang and arrested 6 people. According to police, the gangsters are accused of calling themselves Naxalites and extorting ransom from people.
Four rifles, one country-made pistol and four bullets were seized from the Naxalites. Anil Yadav, who has a criminal background, formed a gang to extort money. He was first arrested in the forest near Jungur village in the Manica police station area and the information he provided during interrogation led to the arrest of other members of the gang.
