Leader Mahayutti and Amit Shah
Ajit Pawar, who played a major role in Maharashtra’s victory, appears to be lagging behind in joining the government. First came the news of reducing the number of ministers under the package and now there are also rumors of giving some light ministries to the Nationalist Congress Party in the demarcation of departments.
Not only this, the BJP is also keeping a close eye on Ajit Pawar’s finance department. During the Eknath Shinde regime, the finance department was in the news. It is said that the BJP will retain Ajith’s finances this time.
NCP wins 41 seats
When Ajit Pawar rebelled against his uncle Sharad and joined the NDA, he got a total of 40 MLAs. After contesting from 60 seats in the 2024 assembly elections, Ajit won 41 seats. If he wins, Ajit’s shooting percentage will be about 70%.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ajit’s party won only 6 seats. Ajit had been rumored to be boosting his standing after making a strong comeback in the parliamentary elections, but he appears to be facing setbacks over departmental delineation and the number of ministers.
Discuss cutting Ajit’s ministerial post
Ajit Pawar has 9 ministers in Eknath Shinde’s government. Now, according to the plan decided by the new government, Ajit will only get 7 ministerial posts. Sources said that Eknath Shinde’s party got 12 ministerial posts and the BJP got 21 ministerial posts. There are rumors that ministerial posts will also be awarded to smaller parties with token participation.
Ajit also held the post of Deputy Speaker in the previous government, but his chances of getting the post this time are smaller. Eknath Shinde’s party is contesting for the post of Deputy Speaker.
Shinde’s party is the second largest in the government after the Bharatiya Janata Party. Shinde was the chief minister in the previous government but has given up his claim in the current government.
None of the top 5 departments can be found
In Maharashtra, Home Department, Finance Department, Revenue Department, Personnel Department and Public Works Department are listed as the top 5 departments. According to reports, the BJP will retain important ministries such as home, finance and taxation.
It has been decided to hand over important ministries such as the Ministry of Urban Development and Public Welfare to Eknath Shinde’s party.
Both sides have agreed to hand over sectors such as agriculture, irrigation and food supply to the NCP led by Ajit Pawar. Ajit was not even awarded one of the top five divisions in Maharashtra.
What were the reasons for accepting Ajit financing?
The finance department is the most talked-about department in Maharashtra politics right now. In Maharashtra, the department is funding many schemes such as Ladki Bahin. Maintaining this program is a big challenge. According to the Reserve Bank of India, the state’s debt is Rs 7.82 lakh.
In this case, the BJP hopes to manage the crisis by retaining the finance ministry. Last time, Ajit Pawar was accused of giving more funds to his MLAs. Because of this, Ajit even had many arguments with ministers in cabinet meetings. The BJP does not want this to happen again.
Credit is also an important issue. The BJP does not want its allies to deprive the government of credit for any major work. At the same time, the number of seats is also an important factor. This time all parties have increased their seats. In this case, Ajit did not choose not to accept the BJP’s plan.
Three Ajit leaders attended Shah’s meeting
The Mahayut leader’s meeting lasted for about three hours at Amit Shah’s house in Delhi on Thursday. In this meeting, Eknath Shinde is from the Shiv Sena side and Devendra Fadnavis is from the BJP side.
Three leaders of Ajit Pawar’s party were present at the meeting. The first is Ajit Pawar himself, the second is Praful Patel and the third is Maharashtra NCP Chairman Sunil Tatkar.
Now it is said that Ajit will finalize his ministerial slate. Interestingly, all 9 ministers in Ajit Pawar’s quota won. Under such circumstances, it was not easy for Ajit to select 7 out of these 9 people.
