Maharashtra police on Thursday detained two suspects in connection with the probe against Congress leader and former minister Naseem Khan. According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, Naseem Khan has been under surveillance for the past one week. Both suspects were hunting Congress leader Naseem Khan on Wednesday’s polling day. In this case, the question is whether Naseem Khan is the target of any gang after Baba Siddiqui?
According to police sources, both suspects came to Mumbai on November 15. One of the two asked a functionary of Naseem Khan in Powai Hiranandani district about the Congress leader. Following this, the two men reached Naseem Khan’s office on Thursday afternoon and one of them interrogated Naseem Khan’s bodyguard. He expressed his desire to meet Naseem Khan. Police have detained two suspects. One of them has a criminal record.
Abuse during meeting with Naseem Khan
According to sources, both men tried to contact Naseem Khan in suspicious ways on Thursday. His staff and security guards then caught him and handed him over to the police. During this period, when he met Naseem Khan, the language in which the accused spoke to him also heightened suspicion and the accused was handed over to the police. One of the detainees is Armaan Malik, a resident of Meerut.
An FIR has been registered under Section 325 against Armaan Malik. The FIR was registered in Meerut in a case related to illegal weapons. At the same time, the police found suspicious chat records with a person named Lokesh from the defendant’s mobile phone. After receiving suspicious chats on the accused’s mobile phone, the crime branch learned whether Naseem Khan was also being targeted by people like Baba Siddiqui. Police are investigating the background of the other person.
Who is Naseem Khan?
Naseem Khan is the working president of the Maharashtra Congress. He has handled many ministries besides being the former home minister of the state. And Naseem Khan is currently the Congress candidate from Chandivali seat. This seat is the traditional seat of Naseem Khan. He has won from here many times. But in 2019, he lost the election for the first time, joining forces with Shiv Sena candidate Dilip Lande. This time, he was once again involved in the electoral battle.
