Maharashtra: Husband and wife arrested for fraud after filling 26 forms to avail ‘Laadli Behan Yojana’ benefits

An interesting news related to the ‘Laadli Behan Yojana’ has come to light in Maharashtra. Ganesh Ghadge, a person from Satara, made a complete plan to take undue advantage of this scheme and filled 26 forms in the name of his wife Pratiksha Popat Jadhav alias Pratiksha Ganesh Gawade. He filled the Laadli Behan Yojana forms fraudulently using the Aadhaar card of his relatives and from the internet without informing them.

Ganesh works as a security guard in Bhiwandi. The Maharashtra government had introduced the Ladli Behan Yojana for women in the state, under which they were to receive Rs 1500 every month. But Ganesh planned to fill more forms in his wife’s name with the intention of committing fraud and in the greed of earning more money.

  • For this, Ganesh used the internet and Aadhar cards of his acquaintances.
  • Not only this, he took photos of his own wife from different angles.
  • To fill all the forms, Ganesh used the name of his wife’s in-laws and parents.
  • Ganesh linked only one bank account with all these forms but he received money for only one form, i.e. Rs 3,000.
  • The money did not come because the remaining forms were in process.

How was the fraud exposed?

The case of applying the form fraudulently came to light when the form of Pooja Mahamuni, a woman living in Kharghar, was getting rejected repeatedly. After this, former BJP councilor Nilesh Baviskar complained about it. Investigation revealed that someone had already filled the application using Pooja Mahamuni’s Aadhaar card.
