Maharashtra: Father-in-law marries for love, Panchayat inflicts shocking punishment on daughter-in-law

A surprising case has been uncovered in Beed district of Maharashtra. Villagers punish a man’s daughter-in-law for a love marriage. The panchayat, while delivering its verdict, said the father-in-law entered into a love marriage without the permission of society. A fine of Rs 2.5 lakh was imposed. At the same time, seven generations of the family were ordered to be expelled from society.

After receiving a complaint from the victim, the police registered a case and began investigating the matter. The police opened cases against 9 people. The incident took place on September 22, 2024, in Doithan village of Ashti taluka. It is reported that the villagers tried to suppress the incident. But the woman showed courage and reported the incident to the local police station.

Daughter-in-law fined for love marriage between father-in-law

Police said the woman’s father-in-law, Malan Phoolmali, Narasu Phoolmali, entered into a love marriage without permission from society. After the incident came to light, the caste panchayat fined Narasu Phoolmali Rs 2.5 lakh. But after several years the fine remained unpaid, and the caste committee ordered Malan and his family expelled from the community for seven generations.

The police filed a case and started investigation

Regarding the matter, police inspector Vikrant Singh said that based on the woman’s complaint, the matter is being investigated seriously. A case has been registered under the Social Exclusion Act. According to the investigation, strictest action will be taken against the accused.
