Maharashtra went to the assembly polls on Wednesday. Polls were held in 288 assembly seats in the state. People are passionate about voting. According to the Election Commission, the turnout in Maharashtra was 65.11%, the highest in the past 30 years. In the earlier 1995 assembly elections, Maharashtra received 71.69% of the vote.
In the Lok Sabha elections held this year, Maharashtra secured 61.39% of the votes. In the 2019 parliamentary elections, the turnout was 61.4%. The increase in turnout in Maharashtra is largely attributed to the campaign run by the ruling Maharaja Mahayutti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). In the Lok Sabha election, Mahayutthi received 42.71% of the votes and Maha Vikas Aghadi received 43.91% of the votes.
A rise in turnout of at least 3.5% will be crucial in deciding who will be the king of Maharashtra. In 2019, Maharashtra had 8.85 billion voters, which will increase to 9.69 billion by 2024. Among them, 50 million are male voters and 4.69 are female voters. According to the Election Commission, a total of 4,136 candidates are in the running. Among them, 3,771 are male voters and 363 are female voters.
What does the BJP Congress have to say?
It is said that the ruling coalition Mahayutri may benefit from more votes. Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said whenever the turnout increases, the BJP benefits from it. Indeed, the voting ratio in this parliamentary election was higher than in previous elections. Both the BJP and Mahayuthy will benefit from this.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole said the MVA is winning the elections. The enthusiasm of the people is high. The self-respecting citizens of Maharashtra will elect a government that prioritizes the welfare of the state. He said the Congress will become the largest political party in the state. Formation of Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state is certain.

So many polls in Maharashtra after 30 years. At the beginning of 1995, the turnout was 71.69%. Later the Shiv Sena government was formed in the state. Manohar Joshi becomes chief minister. Voting takes place in two phases. February 12 and March 9, 1995. The results were announced on March 13.
Subsequently, the Shiv Sena and the BJP formed an indivisible alliance. Manohar Joshi became the 12th Chief Minister of the state. For the first time, a non-Congress government has been formed in Maharashtra. In that election, the Congress won 80 seats, the Shiv Sena won 73 seats and the BJP won 65 seats.
