Maulana Mahmood Madani.
Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict in the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) case. Maulana Mahmood Madani, chairman of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said this paves the way for the restoration of minority status. This is an important and far-reaching decision. This decision also holds a mirror up to the current government, hindering the restoration of minority status. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind has always fought for the educational and constitutional rights of the Muslim minorities.
Maulana Madani said one example of the struggle was recent efforts to stop negative campaigns by government and non-governmental organizations against madrassas. Similarly, when the Supreme Court delivered its verdict in the Aziz Basha case in 1967, the Ulama India Promotion Association under the leadership of Fida-e-Millat Maulana Syed Asad Madani fought for 14 years in and outside the Parliament long-term struggle. Year. .
Aligarh Muslim University All India Conference
He said that the “All India Conference of Aligarh Muslim University” was organized on August 29, 1981 under the chairmanship of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. A large number of representatives from all over the country participated in the event. In response, the Ulama Council of India strongly requested the Indian government to pass the Muslim Universities Amendment Bill in the parliamentary session to restore the identity of minorities.
The bill was passed by Parliament in 1981 as a result of a long struggle by the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. But the law left some loopholes due to the collective mentality of the bureaucracy. This opened the door for interference and hence, in 2006, the Allahabad High Court again abrogated the minority status.
An affidavit was filed by then-Gov.
He said that in 2006, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind met Manmohan Singh regarding the decision. It was suggested that the decision of the High Court be challenged in the Supreme Court and the then government took action against it and the Government of India presented its case before the Supreme Court through an affidavit. But after 2014, the NDA government changed its previous stance and submitted an affidavit to the court in support of the abolition of minority status.

For the past decade, the Ulama Hindu Rashtra has been trying its best to oppose this attitude of the government. Maulana Madani said that the Ulama Council of India has long believed that Aligarh Muslim University is a valuable heritage of the Muslims of India and should be kept safe and continues to successfully set its goals to achieve the objectives for which it was established.
He said that the education of Muslims today is extremely backward and various reports confirm this. Changing the nature of Muslim minority institutions is actually an attempt to create hostility against Muslim minorities and make them fall further behind. Madani called on ethnic minorities to pay attention to education and to play their role in national and social development by receiving higher education.
