A shocking case of digital arrest was exposed in the capital Lucknow. Ruchika Tandon, a female neurology doctor at PGI Hospital, was digitally arrested by cyber thugs and defrauded of Rs 2 crore 81 lakh. During the investigation, the STF came to know that the gang had links with Pakistan. Because their mobile phone numbers started with +92, which is the area code of Pakistan.
The STF estimates that the mastermind of the gang is located in Pakistan and instructs its members to carry out the fraud. It is also learnt that the STF will remand the jailed fugitive navy soldier Gopal Kumar alias Roshan and interrogate him about the Pakistani number he received from the Telegram group.

In the present case, STF Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Singh said that laptops and mobile phones have been recovered from the accused Gopal and other gang members in the case. There were Telegram groups on the laptop and mobile phones and the numbers found were all from Pakistan. The chats, voice calls and video calls on Telegram are being investigated. In addition, laptops and mobile phones have also been recovered and have been sent to the forensic laboratory for examination.
