There is no dearth of small and big thieves in the world, but those who commit big thefts through small means definitely surprise. Recently, a similar case has come to light from UK in which a woman looted Rs 5 crore from shops by taking refund of goods which she had never purchased.

54 year old Narinder Kaur would roam around the UK, steal clothes from expensive showrooms and later return them and get a refund. The woman must have committed such thefts around 1000 times from the showrooms of Bobbs, Debernams’, John Lewis, Monsoon, House of Fraser, and TK Maxx and she was never caught. But what finally came out about him in an investigation surprised everyone.

During the trial, the prosecution proved that Kaur had looted a thousand times from showrooms between July 2015 and February 2019 and then collected her refund.

After a four-month trial at Gloucester Crown Court, Kaur, from Claverton, Wiltshire, was convicted of 26 charges including fraud and possession of criminal property. Apart from this, he also lied to the court and presented false documents to avoid being convicted of the crime of rash driving and get relaxation in his bail conditions.

Metro reported that during two police searches of his home, approximately £150,000 in cash was found hidden, as well as stolen goods. Kaur was seen on CCTV entering shops, secretly taking out goods and carrying them away as if they had been purchased earlier. Detective Inspector Steve Tristram, of West Mercia Police, said: ‘Without any doubt, she has been doing this for 40 years.
