Priyanka actively participates in politics
Soon after the Election Commission announced the Wayanad by-election, the Congress announced that Priyanka Gandhi would be its candidate from the Wayanad seat in Kerala. After the Congress dispatched the AICC general secretary from Wayanad, party workers put up posters in the constituency with the words “Dear Wayanad” written on them. Priyanka Gandhi is all set to join active politics in her maiden election from the Kerala constituency after the Election Commission announced a by-election to the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat last week.
BJP mobilizes against Priyanka
After winning both constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi decided to retain Amithi. As a result, the Wayanad seat fell vacant and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fielded Navya Haridas and Priyanka Gandhi for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. Navya is a mechanical engineer by profession and completed her B.Tech course in 2007. According to her social media profile, she is the MP from Kozhikode Corporation and serves as the state general secretary of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
