The doctors celebrated after Mamata Banerjee’s announcement and addressed the media at ‘Swasthya Bhawan’ after returning from her Kalighat residence where a meeting was held between the chief minister and a delegation of doctors.

Mamta government accepts doctors’ request

Earlier on Monday evening, Banerjee accepted the demands of protesting junior doctors and announced the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner, Director General of Health Services and Director General of Medical Education.

He said the Chief Minister made the announcement after a comprehensive meeting with agitated doctors on August 9 to end the over a month-long stalemate over the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital, directing the doctors to give an assurance that the CP will be removed by 4 pm on Tuesday.
