Doctors across the country are angry after the rape and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata. Resident doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow have left all work and are sitting on strike. They have banners in their hands on which Nirbhaya 2.0 is written and with the help of a sketch, a picture of a rape victim has been drawn. The situation is even worse in Patna AIIMS. The resident doctors here have also stopped OPD.

Thousands of resident doctors are protesting on the streets. He has announced to stop work until the victim gets justice. Meanwhile, the situation is getting worse in government hospitals across the country from today, because resident doctors have also stopped OPD from today.

The Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) had already called for closure of OPDs and elective services with a nationwide protest from August 13. Let us tell you that on August 9, a resident (PGT) doctor was sexually assaulted at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The accused had murdered the doctor after raping her. Since then, the doctors of West Bengal had demonstrated and announced to stop work. But gradually this protest of doctors has spread across the country.

Strike will not stop without assurance

Meanwhile, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association has said that no call off will be taken until there is no assurance on the Central Health Care Protection Act. Our demands are still incomplete. We will continue the strike until their views are completely accepted.

Angry doctors also met Union Health Minister JP Nadda today. During this, he put forward his 5 demands.

JP Nadda’s statement

On the rape-murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Union Health Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda says, ‘The incident that happened with a young female PG student in West Bengal is really heart-wrenching and has shocked the world and The country has been shaken. I condemn this and express my deep sorrow that such an inhuman incident has happened and the way the government has tried to hide it, it deserves all the condemnation.

During the meeting with Health Minister Nadda, IMA raised demands-

1. Hospitals across the country should be declared safe areas. The law should define the rights of the term protected area.

2. There should be police camps and adequate security personnel in all major government hospitals.

3. Similar security arrangements should be made mandatory in big private hospitals also.

4. CCTV cameras should be made mandatory at sensitive places.

5. The National Medical Commission should insist on safety measures as a pre-condition for granting recognition to new medical colleges. Existing medical colleges that fail the security audit of NMC should be de-recognised.

Delhi AIIMS doctors put forward these 6 demands

1. The case should be immediately handed over to CBI without any delay.

2. The resignation of the Principal as well as the security incharge of MS and Alpatal should be taken immediately.

3. There should be written assurance from the Central Government that the Central Protection Act will be implemented for doctors.

4. A medical college building or library should be named after the deceased doctor.

5. Adequate compensation should be given to the doctor’s family.

6. Police should take strict action against physical attacks.

Dead body was found in the seminar hall

In fact, on August 9, the body of a female doctor was found in the seminar hall of RG Kar Hospital, Kolkata. Since then, doctors have been demanding justice for the victim in the case. A 31-year-old postgraduate resident doctor on duty at the Government RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered on the night of August 8. Officials had recovered the semi-nude body of a second year student, which had multiple injury marks, in the seminar hall of the Chest Medicine department.

This was revealed in the postmortem report

Recently, the post-mortem report of this case has also come out, which the police has handed over to the victim’s family. In this report, it has been said about the nature and sexual penetration before the murder. It has been told that the victim was murdered by strangulation. Before that she was raped. The accused had strangled her twice. He died between 3 and 5 in the morning.

The accused is in the custody of the police. At the same time, police sources say that accused Sanjay Roy was addicted to watching obscene films while drinking alcohol. On the basis of interrogation of the accused, circumstantial evidence and CCTV footage, many sensational things have come to light. IMA writes letter to Health Minister JP Nadda

Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, urging him to take immediate action regarding the incident of brutality with a female doctor. IMA has demanded a fair and thorough investigation into the matter to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice. Also, the association has demanded a detailed investigation into the circumstances that led to such a crime. Emphasizing the need for immediate reforms, IMA requested that steps be taken to enhance the safety of doctors, especially women, at the workplace.
