External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday took a dig at Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying that one needs to work hard and life is not ‘khata khata’. The External Affairs Minister was addressing the Indian community in Geneva.

The Foreign Minister spoke in detail about the changing India and the infrastructure development done by the Narendra Modi government in the last 10 years. During this, he made an indirect reference to the remarks of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Talking about the huge human resources required to build infrastructure, Jaishankar said, “Until we develop human resources, hard work is required. Until you build infrastructure, until you have policies. So life is not ‘khatakhata’. Life requires hard work. Life is diligence.”

Life is not a hassle- Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister said, ‘Some people question our imports from China and say why are we importing so much from China. During the 1960s to the 90s, governments did not pay any attention to manufacturing. When we tried to find a solution to this, people said that we do not have the resources and we should not try. How will you become a major global power without strong manufacturing. This requires hard work and good policies. Life is not a cakewalk, life is hard work. We have to work hard.’

Rahul had promised ‘Khatakhat’ in the Lok Sabha elections

He said, ‘Anyone who has done a job and worked hard knows this. So my message to you is that we have to work hard on this.’

Let us tell you that during an election rally as part of the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections this year, Gandhi had promised that if his party wins, it will transfer one lakh rupees to the account of a woman from every poor family in the country. He had said that this money will be transferred ‘khata khata’ i.e. immediately.
