LG redefines flexible display technology. The company has unveiled the world’s first stretchable display that you can squeeze like a towel. The Korean company has launched stretchable display technology that stretches and elongates the display. Although the technology is still in the prototype stage, it adds to the tension among foldable display leader Samsung.
There will be 50% stretch
LG claims that this stretchable display can stretch up to 50% of its size without losing image quality. Showing off a prototype of its stretchable display, the company said it’s a 12-inch display that can be stretched to 18 inches and maintain a resolution of 100 pixels per inch. Even before that, the company showed off a prototype of one of its stretchable displays in 2022.
The company claims that this flexible display is completely unique and the ultimate display technology. Like other flexible displays, it can not only be bent or folded, but also twisted and stretched like a towel.
Stretch 10,000 times continuously
LG’s flexible display is made of micro LED and can be stretched continuously 10,000 times. Apart from this, the display is also said to be able to work in extreme temperatures. While showing off the prototype, the company also talked about its many capabilities. The display can be controlled via touch gestures. Not only that, you can also wear it on your hand.
LG’s stretchable display is extremely thin and lightweight. The company is designing stretchable displays for automotive, wearables and other industries. LG’s flexible display can be used in many future flagship smartphones, tablets or wearable devices.
