The issue of beating of Bihari students in West Bengal is going viral as a video shows two students who were going to Siliguri to appear for SSC exams being beaten up. However, following the development, the police arrested two persons, including the accused. But the question is why such an incident is happening to the people of Bihar. Be it Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bengal or Punjab, why have Biharis become so easy to target? I have never heard of beatings of people in any other state except Hindi states. Forget fighting, one never hears any comment that people from non-Hindi speaking countries are inferior. And for the people of Bihari and Hindi speaking states, from Sheila Dikshit to Arvind Kejriwal, their tongues have been misled many times. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has also often prioritized the South over the North. Let’s see why this happens.

1-Why did Akhilesh and Tejashwi, who raised Yadav’s voice, not speak?

The students who were beaten up in Siliguri belonged to the Yadav caste. Former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, who had criticized the Uttar Pradesh government over his encounter with Yadav criminals, is yet to speak out on the matter. Because political commitment matters more than caste here. Since West Bengal has TMC government. If Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee belongs to her own group, how can her governance be questioned? Here, one’s agenda becomes more important than caste. If there is a BJP government in Bengal, then Akhilesh Yadav may think that the BJP is oppressing Yadav in every state.

Something similar happened with Tejashwi Yadav. His party said Lalu Yadav called Mamata Banerjee and asked her to take action. Then the arrest happened. But neither Lalu Yadav nor Tejashwi Yadav can give such a statement. Because it would send the message that Mamata Banerjee acted on his request, otherwise she would not have acted. Then this thing goes against the agenda. In fact, if Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Lalu Yadav raise questions after this incident, then obviously those who have committed such acts in other states will be frightened. But not only the government but also the opposition remained silent, obviously everyone has their own interests. Government officials protested. The arrest has been made and the matter is over.

2-Manish Kashyap once made such noise and he was arrested for it.

That was last year. There were reports from Tamil Nadu that Bihari laborers were beaten up there. They were harassed. Bihar-based YouTuber Manish Kashyap targeted the Tamil Nadu government after a similar video clip went viral. Later someone said the video was fake.

The Bihar Economic Crime Branch registered a case and arrested him for showing a fake video of beating laborers in Tamil Nadu. Not only that, he was also handed over to the Tamil Nadu police. Now imagine, in such an environment, who has the courage to become the spokesperson of the Bihari people on the Bengal beating incident? If the video of a Bengali Bihari student being beaten tomorrow is fake, he will be arrested. Therefore, the morale of the vocalists will obviously be weakened.

Meanwhile, Manish Kashyap posted a video on social media claiming action was taken against him because of Tejashwi Yadav. It is worth noting that at that time Nitish Kumar was the chief minister of Bihar and the deputy minister was Tejashwi Yadav. This means that JDU and RJD formed a coalition government. Manish Kashyap leans towards the BJP. In this case, partyism triumphed over Biharism. Manish Kashyap had to spend several months in jail in Tamil Nadu.

3. Bihar has been targeted time and time again under some pretext.

The hatred against the Bihari community that started in Maharashtra gradually spread across the country. Long time ago the political basis of the Shiv Sena and later the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena was that the North Biharis brought diseases and fought against them, Bihari People are often insulted with remarks like “hundreds of diseases,” sometimes accused of robbing jobs, sometimes accused of spreading filth. In addition to ordinary people, even leaders have made accusations.
Former Delhi Prime Minister Sheila Dikshit had said that Delhi’s infrastructure was under huge pressure due to migration from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Former chief minister Kejriwal had said that a man from Bihar came to Delhi with a train ticket worth Rs 500 and left after getting free treatment worth Rs 5 lakh. The economy of Kota, known for its IIT preparations, depends on students from Bihar and UP, but leaders here are not lagging behind in the comments. There, a BJP leader targeted the Bihari community over petty issues such as fights among students. The leader said students in Bihar were destroying the environment of the city and they should be kicked out. Kamal Nath, the then chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, also said that the real cause of unemployment in Madhya Pradesh was the Bihari people.
