The Ministry of Education has released a report regarding the results of class 10th and 12th for the year 2023. It has been revealed in this report that last year more than 65 lakh students could not pass the class 10th and 12th boards and the number of students failing in the state board was higher than the national board.

An analysis of Class 10 and 12 exam results of 59 school boards, including 56 state boards and three national boards, showed that more girls appeared for the Class 12 exams from government-managed schools, but the opposite was true in private schools and government-aided schools.

Girls outperformed boys in class 10th and 12th

According to PTI, last year the pass percentage of girls was 6 per cent higher than that of boys. Around 33.5 lakh class 10 students who cleared class 10 could not make it to class 11. Of these, 5.5 lakh candidates did not appear and 28 lakh failed. This is one of the reasons for low attendance and low enrolment rate of students in higher secondary education. Similarly, around 32.4 lakh class 12 students did not complete the grade. Of these, 5.2 lakh did not appear and 27.2 lakh failed to clear the exam.

These states have the worst record in board results

In class 10, the failure rate of students in national boards is six per cent, while in state boards it is more than 16 per cent. In class 12, the failure rate in national boards is 12 per cent while in state boards it is 18 per cent. The analysis showed that the performance of open schools was poor in both classes. The highest number of students failing in class 10 was reported from Madhya Pradesh board, followed by Bihar and UP. While in class 12, the highest number of students failing was reported from Uttar Pradesh, followed by Madhya Pradesh.

The performance of students was poor

Sources have revealed that there has been a decline in the performance of students in 2023 as compared to last year. More girls than boys have participated in the 10th and 12th board examinations from government schools. According to sources, this shows that parents make a difference between boys and girls while spending on education. Despite this, girls have dominated the passing performance in all managements. In class 12, 87.5 percent of girls passed in private schools, while 75.6 percent boys passed, which is about 9 lakh boys failed the exam as compared to four lakh girls.

The pass percentage of these two languages is the highest

A total of 59 exam boards released their results, including three national and 56 state boards. Some boards also follow non-NCERT curriculum. In Class 10, 84.9 per cent of the 18.5 million students passed. However, about 33.5 lakh students failed or were absent, leading to a lower number of students enrolling in Class 11. In Class 12, 82.5 per cent of the 15.5 million students passed. Nepali and Manipuri languages have the highest pass rates.
