The fire of ongoing protest against the brutality against a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata, West Bengal has reached Delhi. Doctors of Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital took out a candle march demanding a CBI investigation into this matter. Along with this, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has given an ultimatum of 48 hours to complete the investigation. Along with this, a warning has been given of nationwide protests.

The IMA said, “We demand that the police authorities take action within 48 hours and with precision, otherwise we will be forced to launch a nationwide crackdown. There is a need for a fair, transparent and sensitive investigation to arrest the culprits.” After this, the Indian Medical Association will hold a nationwide protest. The entire medical community is shocked by this brutal murder.

In this case, Kolkata Police has arrested a suspected criminal, who was today sent to 14-day police custody by the local court. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 64 (rape) and 103 (murder) of the Indian Justice Code. He was produced in the Sealdah court and a demand was made for his police custody for questioning. The judge accepted the prosecution’s request.

After this, the accused was sent to police custody for 14 days till 23 August. The body of the victim woman was found inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College in North Kolkata on Friday. According to the preliminary post-mortem report, she was sexually assaulted before her murder. Police said that the arrested accused is an outsider. He used to easily visit various departments of the medical college.

Police said that the activities of the accused are very suspicious. He appears to be directly involved in the crime. The police had found a torn part of a Bluetooth earphone, through which they were able to reach the accused. PGT and female doctors have also identified the culprit from the CCTV footage. It has been revealed by sources that the name of the accused is Sanjay Roy, who is a civic volunteer by profession. Such volunteers are contractual employees.

A police officer said, “Now we are trying to find out who else was with the accused. Necessary medical examination can be done on him. On Friday night, the police arrested two intern doctors in connection with the investigation into the death of the woman doctor. Was also interrogated. According to the autopsy report, there were injuries on the victim’s face and her private parts were also bleeding.
