Labour produces a bizarre pillowcase featuring an image of Rishi Sunak in bed in a coquettish pose and asking if voters want to ‘wake up’ with him in No10 on July 4

Labour has produced a bizarre pillowcase asking if voters want to ‘wake up’ with Rishi Sunak on July 4.

The ad features a mocked-up image of the PM under the covers giving the camera a sultry look.

The accompanying message says: ‘Don’t wake up to 5 more years of the Tories.’

Campaigning in Hitchin this morning, Keir Starmer admitted that he personally would not be taking the pillow to bed.

‘Just imagine if you dare waking up on Friday morning to five more years of the Conservatives… that could happen,’ he said.

‘And it would be even worse than before because they would return entitled and emboldened.’

Asked by Sky News’ Beth Rigby if he would be sleeping with the pillow, Sir Keir laughed and said: ‘No, but you can take that one Beth for tonight for the last whatever it is three sleeps to the election you can sleep on that pillow.

‘But it’s true. Don’t wake up to five more years of the Tories because if you don’t vote Labour, if you don’t vote for change, change won’t happen.

‘So a very, very good pillow for us to have I think across the country.’

As he struggles to seal the deal with voters despite Labour’s huge poll lead, Sir Keir was challenged on whether he was concerned he could be the party’s least popular leader to enter No10.

He insisted he had changed the party from electoral disaster to ‘a credible force for change’.

‘So my track record as a leader is clear,’ he said.

‘Yes, what we’re asking now is for the opportunity to do the same for our country.

‘And yes, we face the same challenge, which is a version of ”look the country is broken, almost nothing is working better than it was when the Tories started. Is it possible to bring around the change that we offer?”

‘Yes, it is. We have that determination, that intention. And in five years’ time, we will be able to look back and say ”you are truly better off, your public services are working properly and the economy is working for everyone”.

‘I’ll be very, very happy to be judged on that record.’
