Kupwara man detained at Srinagar Airport like suspect of Pahgam attack

Srinagar, Apr 29 (KDC): Recently, security forces detained a person at the Srinagar International Airport on high alert in view of the Pahalgam terror attack, as his facial characteristics matched a suspect in a police-proven sketch.

Official sources told Kashmir.com that Mohammad Shafi Khan Pathan, son of Datullah Khan and residents of Mangah, Manigah in Kupwara district of North Kashmir, Indigo Flight 6E6051 were intercepted by the Central Industrial Security Force personnel (CISF) personnel trying to ride for Chandigarh. He was with four other people and was scheduled to travel 1125 hours.

During the initial interrogation, the group informed the officials that they were working under Deepak Kumar, identified as a production manager with a film unit. He claimed that he was the route to Chandigarh for the shooting of a film called Seped Segar, allegedly based on the Kargil War.

However, CISF officials were suspected when Mohammad Shafi’s face features appeared in the overall sketches issued by the investigators -the meeting appeared from one of the suspects, claiming 26 civilians in relation to a recent deadly attack in Pahgam.

All five persons were later handed over to a police Budgam. The officer personally participated in the Police Post Hamhama for further inquiries and verification.
