KP Oli invited PM Modi to visit Nepal, sent message through Foreign Secretary

Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Nepal. He has sent this invitation through Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. He had come to meet Nepalese PM Oli, through whom he invited PM Modi to visit Nepal. He took oath as the Prime Minister of Nepal for the fourth time last month.

KP Sharma Oli became the Prime Minister after Pushp Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ lost the trust vote in the House. Foreign Secretary Misri also met former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. According to the statement issued by Deuba’s office, he talked about bilateral relations.

It is not yet clear whether PM Modi will visit Nepal on the invitation of KP Sharma Oli or not, but after becoming the Prime Minister in 2014, he has visited Nepal four times. Apart from these, the Prime Minister had also once visited Kalapani, which was also opposed by Nepal. Nepal claims this area as its own. His visits focus on strengthening bilateral relations between India and Nepal.

First visit: August 2014

PM Modi’s first visit to Nepal was in August 2014. During this visit, he addressed the Constituent Assembly and expressed India’s support for Nepal’s constitution-making process.

Second visit: November 2014

PM Modi’s second visit to Nepal took place in November 2014, during which Modi participated in the Kathmandu summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). ,

Third visit: May 2018

PM Modi’s third visit to Nepal took place on 11-12 May 2018. During this visit, PM Modi and Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the 900 MW Arun-III hydroelectric project.
