The CBI may conduct a polygraph test of Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, today. Sources have given this information. Earlier, Sanjay’s polygraph test was postponed due to technical difficulties.
The CBI, which is probing the case, on Saturday conducted a lie detector test on former principal of RG Kar Hospital Sandip Ghosh and five others and also registered a case of alleged financial irregularities in the hospital.
Sanjay’s polygraph test may be conducted today
An official said, ‘Polygraph tests are being conducted on Ghosh and five others, including interns, doctors and a person associated with Sanjay Roy. Due to technical glitches, Sanjay’s test schedule could not be done on time. We will soon decide when to conduct this test.’ A CBI source told news agency PTI that the test on Sanjay may be conducted on Sunday at the Presidency Correctional Home, where he is currently lodged.
CBI questioned more than 15 people
The source said, due to the time required for polygraph tests and limited equipment, of which only two are currently available, it may take a few more days for the CBI to complete the tests of all seven people. The CBI is investigating the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor of Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. On Saturday, the agency questioned more than 15 people, including 10 police officers and civic volunteers.
Section 163 extended till August 31
The Kolkata Police has extended the prohibitory orders near RG Kar Hospital till August 31. The order was first issued on August 18, banning gatherings of more than five people and meetings around the hospital.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel issued a statement on Saturday saying that Section 163(2) of the BNSS has been imposed from Belgachhia Road-JK Mitra Crossing to parts of the Shyambazar five-point crossing in north Kolkata.
