Kolkata rape-murder case: Junior doctors take to streets, demand justice from CBI

Demonstrations in Kolkata.

Several organizations, including junior doctors, held a march in Kolkata on Saturday to protest against the bail granted to Sandeep Ghosh, former dean of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata and former OC of Tala police station, and CBI. On the other hand, at the CGO building, representatives of the West Bengal Junior Doctors Front and Medical Services Centre, Service Doctors Forum, Nurses Solidarity Organization and other citizens submitted a memorandum to the CBI investigators demanding justice.

Junior doctors and nurses marched from Karunamoye to the CGO complex, while doctors protested on Rani Rasmani Avenue. The parents of the deceased female doctor also took to the streets to protest. Subsequently, representatives of eight junior doctors arrived at the CGO complex on the same day.

Junior doctor Debashish Halder said: “I will be going to the CGO complex in response to yesterday’s events. It will show that ordinary people are taking to the streets. So that the justice system cannot become a farce. This is My message. On the other hand, the late female doctor’s father said: “What else! “In this case, the movement for justice must be strengthened. It will have to hit the road.”

On the other hand, the burning of effigies during a procession on Rani Rasmani Street caused an uproar. Protesters claimed police were blocking their march. When the agitators went to burn the statue, someone threw water to stop it. Firefighters came to provide water. Then an argument broke out. A protesting doctor said: “A man in yellow clothes came over and poured water in front of the drum. Then he started beating people. How can we get justice like this?”

Dr Viplav Chandra, state secretary of the Center for Medical Services, said that after talking to CBI officials, we are disappointed. Earlier, when we went to meet the CBI officials, they said there were 90 days left. Yes, we will provide a fee schedule. But we were surprised to find that after 90 days, now the CBI officials are saying that 90 days is not enough to file the chargesheet. Will taking so long to file it have any impact on you?

Dr Viplav Chandra has lost trust in CBI

He said people have lost trust in you and will lose trust in you if you do not immediately file additional charges against Sandeep Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal. “We want to tell the public that agitation is the only way to stop the collusion between the national government and the CBI and get justice in the Abhaya murder case,” he said. We have no choice but to incite.
