The CBI, which is investigating the rape and murder of a lady doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, is continuously active. On Sunday, along with conducting polygraph tests on seven people including the main accused Sanjay Roy, it is also investigating the corruption case of former principal Sandip Ghosh. Despite this, the ruling party Trinamool Congress doubts its credibility and ability. TMC MP Sayoni Ghosh has targeted the CBI for the delay in the investigation. She says that this case should be revealed as soon as possible.

TMC MP Sayoni Ghosh said, “The Kolkata Police was given barely three days for their investigation, while the CBI took 12 days, but the central investigating agency has failed to uncover anything new. I doubt the credibility and capability of the CBI. This is not just my opinion, but the data speaks for itself, showing that their conviction rate is less than one percent. As Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee has always emphasized that justice should be delivered immediately and without unnecessary delay. We hope that justice will be delivered soon.”

Sayoni Ghosh said, “There is no strong opposition in West Bengal; those who are present are just trying to defame Mamata Banerjee. People need to understand that no leader would want such an incident to happen during their tenure. Especially a leader like Mamata Banerjee, who leads a government committed to empowering women. This is not just our claim. The NCRB data of the central government itself shows that Kolkata ranks first in terms of women’s safety. Women are the safest here.

The TMC MP further said, “Yes, a tragic incident has happened. We are all in shock and pain. We have been demanding justice since day one. I stand with all the doctors. Their demands are justified. But we urge the doctors to resume treating patients as soon as possible, as it is their duty. Justice is a process, which will definitely be found, but until then doctors should do their duty.” Even before this, many ministers and leaders of Mamata government have raised questions on the CBI investigation. Mamata herself had given a week’s time to the investigating agency.

Amidst all these allegations, the CBI is busy investigating. Today, the main accused Sanjay Roy underwent a polygraph test. The CBI team and experts made him face a lie detector machine in the Presidency Jail. After this test which lasted for about four hours, the CBI team came out of the jail. On the other hand, raids are being conducted in the brutal hospital regarding corruption. The CBI team has also searched the house of former principal Sandeep Ghosh. After a raid of about 6 hours, one team left. The other team is still present at the house. Sandeep is being interrogated for the last 10 hours.

Raids were also conducted at the houses of Devashish Som and Sanjay Vashisht, who were part of Sandeep Ghosh’s team at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. CBI has searched 15 locations. CBI knocked at Sandeep Ghosh’s house at 6 in the morning. The door was opened after waiting for one and a half hours. There are many big and serious allegations of corruption against Sandeep. He was also transferred twice, but due to his influence, he remained in RG Kar Hospital. Before CBI, SIT had done a lot of work of investigating corruption, but after the court’s order, evidence and documents had to be handed over to CBI.
