After the rape-murder case of a female resident doctor in Kolkata, Trinamool Congress has expelled a junior doctor from the party. This junior doctor, Dr. Avik Dey, is close to Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of RG Kar Hospital.
TMC has suspended Avik Dey from its student wing Trinamool Chhatra Parishad. In fact, IMA alleges that this junior doctor close to Sandeep Ghosh was present at the scene when the body of Lady Doctor was recovered.
What is Kolkata rape and murder case?
On 9 August, the body of a 31-year-old female trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical Hospital. Her clothes were missing from her body. She was bleeding. There were marks of injuries on her body. After this incident, the resident doctors were angry and went on strike. The police have arrested the accused Sanjay Roy in the case.
The High Court had handed over the investigation to the CBI
When the matter escalated, the High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI. Later, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance of the matter and ordered the CBI to file a progress report of the investigation so far. After this, the CBI filed a status report in the court.
The lady doctor had gone to the seminar hall
Let us tell you that the trainee doctor was 31 years old, who was on night duty that day with three other doctors. Two of these doctors were from the Chest Medicine Department, one was a trainee. One employee was from the house staff of the hospital. That night all these doctors and employees had dinner together. After this, the lady doctor went to the seminar hall of the hospital to sleep at around 2 o’clock in the night.
The accused was a civic volunteer of the police
The accused named Sanjay Roy entered the seminar hall from the back door and raped and murdered the lady doctor. The accused was neither a member of the hospital staff nor a relative of any patient. He worked as a civic volunteer for Kolkata Police.
