Kolkata incident: Sandeep Ghosh approached SC, challenged this order of HC

Former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, has approached the Supreme Court. He has filed a petition in the apex court, challenging the order of the Calcutta High Court. In this order, his plea to be included as a party in the petition alleging financial irregularities in the institute during his tenure was rejected.

On August 24, the Kolkata High Court had ordered the SIT to hand over the investigation of financial irregularities to the CBI. Former Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Dr Akhtar Ali had filed a complaint against Sandeep Ghosh for financial irregularities in several cases in the institute. In this, allegations like smuggling of dead bodies in the hospital, corruption in bio-medical waste, nepotism in construction tenders etc. were made.

Its investigation was first handed over to Kolkata Police. On August 19, the police registered a case against Sandeep Ghosh under Section 120B, 420 of IPC and Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. After this, on August 24, after the order of the High Court, the CBI took over the investigation. Four accused including Sandeep were arrested under the above sections, who have been sent to CBI custody till September 10.

Let us tell you that Sandeep Ghosh, who was sent to CBI custody, was seen restless in the jail on the first night. He was given completely vegetarian food on Tuesday night, which he ate without any desire and went to sleep. But according to sources, he kept turning from one side to another the whole night. He could not sleep. However, he looked very tired and disappointed. He has been kept in the lockup on the 14th floor of MSO Building of Nizam Palace.

A total of four armed CRPF personnel are deployed inside and outside the court. According to sources, “Dr. Ghosh’s first night in CBI custody has been sleepless. He has not yet accepted his arrest. It takes time. Because this is a completely different situation for those who have never been behind bars. He looks a little nervous. His nervousness has increased after seeing the anger of the people while coming out of the court on Tuesday.

It is being told that after being arrested on Monday, Sandeep Ghosh was given pure vegetarian food for dinner, as it was Kali Puja that day. He believes in God. He often goes to Balaji temple every morning, which is just 50 meters away from his house in Beliaghata area of ​​​​Kolkata. Therefore, on his request, a completely vegetarian meal was given for dinner. But he did not eat the food willingly.

Dr Ghosh has been completely silent since returning from the court. The investigating agency gave him some time to rest in the evening, as he was very tired after going through many official procedures since his arrest on Monday night. After having dinner, Sandeep Ghosh went to sleep, but he could not sleep properly. In the morning he was given tea, biscuits and breakfast, which he ate properly. The interrogation has been started again on Wednesday morning.

Three CBI officers are questioning Sandeep Ghosh. The questioning has been resumed after an hour’s lunch break on Wednesday afternoon. Sources claim that during the questioning, Sandeep Ghosh has completely denied his involvement in the financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Along with him, the CBI is also continuously questioning three other accused Biplav Singh, Suman Hazra and Afsar Ali Khan.
