Sandip Ghosh, ex-principal of RG Kar Medical College, who was sent to CBI custody for eight days in the corruption case in the Kolkata scandal, was seen restless on the first night in jail. He was given a completely vegetarian meal on Tuesday night, which he somehow ate reluctantly and went to sleep. But according to sources, he kept tossing and turning throughout the night. According to the information, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh has been kept in a lockup on the 14th floor of the second MSO building in Nizam Palace, the office of the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch. A total of four armed CRPF personnel are deployed inside and outside here. Dr. Ghosh will have to spend at least 7 days in this lockup. After this, he will be produced again in Alipore Court on September 10. After this the court will decide about his custody.

It is being told that after being arrested on Monday, Sandeep Ghosh was given pure vegetarian food for dinner, as it was Kali Puja that day. He believes in God. He often goes to Balaji temple every morning, which is just 50 meters away from his house in Beliaghata area of ​​​​Kolkata. Therefore, on his request, a completely vegetarian meal was given for dinner. But he did not eat the food willingly.

Dr Ghosh has been completely silent since returning from court on Tuesday. The investigating agency gave him some time to rest in the evening as he was very tired after going through many official procedures since his arrest on Monday night. After having dinner, Sandeep Ghosh went to sleep, but he could not sleep properly. In the morning he was given tea, biscuits and breakfast, which he ate properly. The interrogation has been started again on Wednesday morning.

Three CBI officers are continuously questioning Sandeep Ghosh. The questioning has been resumed after an hour’s lunch break on Wednesday afternoon. Sources claim that during the questioning, Sandeep Ghosh has completely denied his involvement in the financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Along with him, the CBI is also continuously questioning three other accused Biplav Singh, Suman Hazra and Afsar Ali Khan.

On Tuesday, the CBI team reached Alipore Court with Sandeep Ghosh. A large number of people had gathered there even before his arrival. People were very furious and angry. As soon as he arrived, protests started around him in the court premises. This crowd included lawyers as well as a large section of common people. Many people also insulted Sandeep inside the court room. After this, security was increased in the court premises before taking him out.

A large number of security forces were deployed. Since the CRPF is responsible for the security of the CBI, they also cordoned off the area by forming a human chain. But when the CBI took Sandeep Ghosh out of the court room, a ruckus started. While the CBI was making him sit in the car, a man slapped him. On the other hand, a day after being arrested by the CBI, the Bengal government suspended Dr. Sandeep Ghosh.

Dr Akhtar Ali, former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, had lodged a complaint of financial irregularities in several cases in the institute during Sandeep Ghosh’s tenure as principal. In this, allegations like smuggling of unclaimed bodies in the hospital, corruption in disposal of bio-medical waste, nepotism in construction tenders etc. were made. It was earlier being investigated by the Kolkata Police. On the orders of the High Court, the investigation was handed over to the CBI.
