Agitated junior doctors demanding justice in the rape-murder case of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College took out a massive protest march in Salt Lake district. The protest continued amid heavy rains, a day after talks with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to resolve the deadlock over the issue failed.

On Sunday, the agitated doctors marched from Central Park to the state health department headquarters in heavy rain. They have been protesting there for six days. He also demanded the resignation of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal, West Bengal Health Minister and other officials. He has met the chief minister on the matter.

“We have been waiting for 36 days and have not received any guarantee. When will we get justice for our sister?” said a junior doctor at the march. Negotiations proposed to resolve the deadlock on the issue failed on Saturday after the government did not accept several demands of the agitating doctors.

However, the protesting doctors insisted on live and videotaping the meeting and Mamata tried to convince them but her efforts failed. Eventually, he returned from the gate of CM’s residence without holding the meeting. On Saturday morning, CM Mamata personally reached the protest site at RG Kar Medical College to meet the protesting students.

“I salute your protest,” the CM said. “I am a student leader myself.” After this, the meeting was fixed at 6 pm. Later, the junior doctor reached the CM residence and met Mamata Banerjee but did not go inside. Here he raised the issue of videotaping the meeting. The students demanded to bring a videographer.

Allow video recording and live streaming of the meeting. The CM disagreed with this. Along with Mamata, West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, West Bengal DG Rajiv Kumar, West Bengal Chief Secretary Narayan Swarup Nigam and West Bengal Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya were also present in the meeting. Junior doctors also stood at the gate of the CM’s official residence.

After this, Mamta Banerjee reached the door and explained the situation to the doctors. During this, Mamta was seen folding her hands. But the doctors disagreed. Then Mamta said, “I have told you that the entire meeting will be recorded. Nowhere in your meeting letter did it mention that it should be live streamed. But I assure you that the meeting will be recorded.
