Sandeep Ghosh, who was the principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was attacked by an angry mob. While he was coming out of the court, a person slapped him hard on the head. He was present under tight security of CRPF and Kolkata Police, despite this people seemed angry against him. As soon as they saw him, people started abusing him. They started shouting slogans of thief-thief.

According to the information, on Tuesday, the CBI team reached Alipur Court with Sandeep Ghosh. A large number of people had gathered there even before their arrival. People were very furious and angry. As soon as they arrived, protests started around them in the court premises. This crowd included lawyers as well as a large section of common people. Many people insulted Sandeep even inside the court room.

After this, before taking him out, security was increased in the court premises. A large number of security forces were deployed. Since CRPF is responsible for the security of CBI, they also cordoned off the area by forming a human chain. But when CBI took Sandeep Ghosh out of the court room, a ruckus started. CBI was making him sit in the car, when a man slapped him.

Here, a day after being arrested by the CBI, the Bengal government suspended Dr. Sandeep Ghosh. The West Bengal Health Department has also suspended him from the West Bengal Medical Council. Earlier, after the hearing in Alipore Court, four accused including Sandeep were sent to eight days of police custody. Biplab Singh, Suman Hazra and Afsar Ali Khan are also included with them.

Dr Akhtar Ali, former deputy superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, had lodged a complaint of financial irregularities in several cases in the institute during Sandeep Ghosh’s tenure as principal. Allegations were made in it such as smuggling of unclaimed bodies in the hospital, corruption in disposal of bio-medical waste, nepotism in construction tenders, etc. It was earlier being investigated by the Kolkata Police.

The investigation was handed over to the CBI on the orders of the Kolkata High Court. On August 19, Kolkata Police registered a case against Sandip Ghosh under Sections 120B, 420 of the IPC and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. After this, on August 24, the CBI took over the investigation on the orders of the Kolkata High Court. He has been arrested under the above sections.

Biplab Singh: Biplab Singh is a co-accused in the corruption case in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. He is also the owner of Maa Tara Traders. An FIR in this case has also been registered in the name of Maa Tara Traders. It is being told that his father has worked in the medical college. Taking advantage of his father’s connections, he first started making posters and banners in the hospital, then started the work of supplying medicines.

Suman Hazra: Suman Hazra, who supplies material to the hospital, and Sandeep Ghosh are very good friends. He used to buy government medicines and medical equipment and then sell them in the market. He also has a shop named Hazra Medical Shop. Suman and Biplab live in the same locality of Kolkata. Both have been close associates and close associates of Sandeep Ghosh in corruption cases.

Afsar Ali Khan: One of Sandeep Ghosh’s close associates is Afsar Ali Khan. Former Deputy Superintendent of the hospital Dr Akhtar Ali had said that Sandeep used to keep private security for his protection. Afsar also worked as a bouncer along with Sanjay Roy. Apart from this, he played an important role in the financial irregularities in RG Karl Medical College and Hospital. He is also Sandeep’s confidante.
