The Atal Residential School initiative of the Yogi government will be completed on Thursday. About 6,480 students have enrolled for the upcoming academic session of these schools. On September 12, in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the 2024-25 academic session of Atal Residential Schools in all 18 divisions of the state.

This is the beginning of the second academic year for these schools, after the launch of the first session on September 11, 2023. The aim of Atal Residential Schools is to include children of registered construction workers, children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic and children assisted under the Chief Minister Bal Seva Yojana in the social mainstream. Managed by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (UPBOCW), these institutions are designed to have a capacity of 1,000 students and operate in 18 divisions.

At present, a total of 6,480 students are enrolled in Atal Residential Schools. Each school houses 1,000 students, with 500 boys and 500 girls enrolled equally and provides free residential facilities. Apart from this, students also get free nutritious food. Atal Residential Schools follow the CBSE curriculum and are implemented in line with the new education policy. High quality education is being imparted to the students here. The schools are equipped with modern educational resources such as smart classrooms, computer labs, science labs and even astronomy laboratories. Apart from this, both indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available to encourage physical development.
