AAP leader Atishi was elected as the party leader in the legislature. He also claimed to meet the lieutenant governor and form the government. In the same meeting, Arvind Kejriwal also submitted his resignation to the LG. Now, lieutenant governor Vinay Saxena will send Kejriwal’s resignation to President Draupadi Murmu for approval. At the same time, he will also send Atish’s letter to the President for approval to form a new government.

Once Kejriwal’s resignation is accepted, the LG will invite Aatish to form the government and give a date for the swearing-in ceremony. This process may take a few days. Aatish, as the new chief minister, will then have to prove that her government has a majority in the Delhi Assembly. For this purpose, the ruling AAP government has called a parliamentary session on September 26-27.

Let me tell you that in the Kejriwal government, Atish held 14 departments including finance, education, revenue etc. It was he who managed the AAP government properly when Kejriwal was in jail.

What are the rules for forming the Delhi government?

It is noteworthy that the office from the Lieutenant Governor to the President also plays an important role in the formation of the new government in Delhi. In fact, with the appointment of the new Chief Minister, a new cabinet will be formed. As per the procedure, the Chief Minister has to first submit his resignation to the Lieutenant Governor. The document is approved by the LG and sent to the President. Later, the President also accepts the resignation.

Likewise, the process of forming a new government is also completed. According to the rules, the new leader of the party in the legislature and its members will meet the lieutenant governor and make a proposal to form a new government. For this, the lieutenant governor’s consent must be obtained first. After that, the final approval is decided by the president. Finally, the oath-taking ceremony of the chief minister and his cabinet is held.

What did Atishi say after filing the claim?

“We have given our demand for forming a new government. I will protect the interests of the people of Delhi,” he told reporters after meeting the lieutenant governor during Kejriwal’s resignation. She claimed that Kejriwal, whom she considered a mentor, was facing false charges and was being targeted by the central government’s investigative agencies.

Aatish and Kejriwal

He also said, “The Supreme Court not only granted bail but also came down heavily on the Centre and its investigating agencies, calling them caged parrots.” Atish said, “If there was any other leader, he would have retained the post of chief minister, but Kejriwal decided to go to court and resign.”

Atishi vows to make Kejriwal CM again

Atish said people vowed to re-elect Arvind Kejriwal as chief minister in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. Meanwhile, it is also noteworthy that Kejriwal remained silent throughout the day on Tuesday. Atish asked his party MPs not to congratulate him.

Atishi thanked his ‘mentor’ Kejriwal for showing confidence in him and giving him great responsibility. He said Kejriwal trusted me and made me an MLA, then a minister and now the chief minister. I am grateful to him. A first-time MLA gets such an opportunity only in AAP, Atishi said, if I was in any other party, I would not even get a ticket to contest. I am happy but I am very sad that my brother has tendered his resignation today.

Announced his resignation as Chief Minister on Sunday

It is noteworthy that two days after being released on bail in Tihar jail, Kejriwal made a surprising decision and announced on Sunday that he would resign as chief minister and would return only if the people provide him with a “proof of honesty”. The Delhi assembly elections will be held. Kejriwal also demanded early elections in Delhi. The term of the Delhi assembly will end on February 23 next year and the elections are expected to be held in early February.

BJP calls Kejriwal’s resignation a drama

Regarding this political development, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that you can change the face of the party but you cannot change its nature. He said the people of Delhi knew that Kejriwal had looted Delhi. Sachdeva said that he was guilty of corruption in every department and now people will be held accountable for his corrupt practices. The party on Monday said that Kejriwal’s decision to resign as chief minister was out of compulsion and not out of principle. The BJP called his move a “drama” and a “confession of guilt” and wondered if he had tendered his resignation due to internal conflict in AAP.
