Economist Haseeb Drabu participated in Aaj Tak election mega platform ‘Panchayat Aaj Tak’. He spoke openly about the tourism industry of Kashmir. He said that things like creating a business community are not seen in the manifestos of the parties. The biggest hub for business here is the tourism center. Economist Haseeb Drabu said that the tourism industry has been doing well for the last three years. Efforts are on to find and create new locations, from hotels to new places, but this industry still needs a lot of things.

He said that Jammu and Kashmir is focused on international tourism. Right now, foreign tourists are not able to come here due to the advisory of different countries. Before the advisory, we have often seen that foreign tourists used to come here in large numbers during August to September, but now international tourism is banned. The situation in Kashmir has improved now, so the Indian government should talk to other countries about ending the advisory.

If this happens then Kashmir will become a world tourism centre
It is better to talk about removing the advisory. If people from Europe and America come, Kashmir will become a world tourism centre. People are not able to come only because of the advisory. People from every country want to come here, but due to the advisory, they are not able to come.

The environment also needs to be kept safe
He said that earning money is a different thing, but we should also save our environment. Construction and cleaning should be done according to the environment. Proper arrangements should be made for the coming and going of people. A large number of people come here to see the environment only, no one looks at the hotels or other things, so more focus should be given on keeping the environment better.

Need to create new destination
There are destinations like Vaishno Devi Temple, Gulmar, Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, where the situation is no longer the same as before due to the arrival of more people. The economist said that the focus should be on improving things here. He said that there is a need to create some more destinations for Kashmir. So that more tourists can be attracted.

How will more and more tourists reach Kashmir
He said that without commercial activity, tourists are not able to come. Commercial development is not possible due to lack of permission. Gurez was never developed. Permission should be given to stay in Gurez Valley. Also, construction and development should be done in a way that does not harm the environment. He said that Kashmir tourism industry will be boosted only when new locations are created. Focus should be on developing and promoting them.
