The body of Aditya Vardhan Singh, Deputy Director of Health Department, who drowned in Ganga at Nanamau Ghat in Kanpur, was not found even on the sixth day. At the same time, the divers accused of demanding 10 thousand rupees to save a drowning man in Ganga have been released by the police after interrogation. The divers told why they had demanded money. Police say that if Aditya Vardhan’s family files a complaint, action will be taken accordingly. At present, search operation is going on in Bilhaur police station area and nearby areas in search of Aditya.

Let us tell you that this incident happened on Saturday, 31st August at Nanamau Ghat in Bilhaur. Aditya Vardhan Singh (45) had come here to take bath in Ganga with his friends Yogesh Mishra, Pradeep Tiwari. Friends say that while bathing Aditya Vardhan asked to take a photo. During this, he went into deep water and started drowning.

On this, the divers present there were asked for help but it is alleged that the divers first asked Aditya’s friends for 10 thousand rupees. Later, when the money was transferred to a shopkeeper’s account online, they jumped into the Ganga to save him. But by then it was too late.

No body has been found yet

The body of Aditya Vardhan Singh who drowned in the Ganga has not been found even on the sixth day. Whereas, the divers (Rakesh and Sushil) who transferred ₹10000 to his account to save him while he was drowning have been brought to the police station and released after interrogation. The police say that if the family files any complaint, action will be taken.

What did the divers tell the police?

In this case, ACP Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that the Bilhaur inspector had called the accused divers for questioning. During the interrogation, the divers told that when he (Aditya) drowned, his friends had contacted us. They had asked for money to fill diesel in their motor boat. Before this, they had jumped into the Ganga and searched a lot. But Aditya could not be found. After which the money was returned.

The ACP also said that no one has complained against the divers, if the family complains then action will be taken accordingly. At the same time, Aditya Vardhan Singh’s family has also gone to their village from the ghat. Only one or two of his relatives are present at the ghat now. It is expected that the family will reach the spot after the body is found.

Police-PAC search operation continues

Aditya’s wife is a judge in Maharashtra, while his cousin is a senior IAS officer in Bihar. Aditya’s parents and sister have also returned from abroad after getting the information. They are hoping to find the body soon. Currently, divers of PSC along with NDRF, SDRF were engaged in finding the body for 6 days.

But on Wednesday, the NDRF and SDRF teams returned after completing their search operation. Police say that it has been more than 5 days since Asaditya drowned in the Ganga, it is feared that the body might have got stuck in the bushes growing on the banks of the Ganga. Therefore, now a search operation is being conducted there as well. Currently, police and PAC personnel are searching on the banks of the Ganga which is about 40 kilometers long.
