Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa, accused of being part of a conspiracy to murder a fan, has been granted bail. The Karnataka High Court has granted interim bail to Darshan for six weeks. Let us tell you that Darshan was arrested by the Karnataka police in June along with many other murder accused. Darshan was earlier lodged in Bengaluru jail. But there are VIPs in prison. He was shifted to Ballari jail after being charged for treatment.
Why was Darshan granted bail?
According to sources, Darshan Tugudeepa has filed a bail application for spinal surgery in the Karnataka High Court. The court has asked the administration to produce the medical examination report in the case. Reports say Dashon may need physical therapy or surgery for back problems. Thereafter, the court granted Darshan interim bail for six weeks on health grounds.
In this case, Darshan has also challenged the trial court’s decision not to grant bail, while a regular bail application is also pending in the high court. The High Court may also hear this soon.
Why is Darshan in jail?
The car driver, Renuka Swamy, 33, was abducted on June 9. After being tortured, he was murdered. All this was allegedly done at the behest of Kannada film star Darshan. It was learned that Renuka Swamy sent lewd messages to actress Pavitra Gowda, who was believed to be Darshan’s partner. Police investigation also revealed that Darshan himself was involved in the fight with Renuka Swamy. Meanwhile, the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavitra and others was extended till September 9 on Wednesday.
VIP treatment fees in prison
In August, a photo of Darshan hanging out in jail with three others went viral. In the photo, Darshan is sitting on a chair in a very relaxed mood, holding a cigarette and a coffee cup in his hand. Meanwhile, a blurry video has also gone viral in which Darshan is seen having a video call with someone inside the jail.
After this photo was exposed, it caused a lot of controversy. Ordinary people, including the deceased’s father, also started demanding Darshan’s transfer from jail and taking legal action. The jail authorities took action and shifted Darshan from Bengaluru jail to Ballari jail. Along with him, other accused in the case were also shifted to different jails in Karnataka.
