Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is often in the news for her controversial remarks. She has landed in trouble on several occasions due to her outspokenness. On several occasions, people have mobbed her for her remarks.

A while ago, Kangana was in the headlines for her upcoming film Emergency, where the Censor Board refused to issue a certificate to her film. In fact, it was believed that his film had a wrong portrayal of the Sikh community, which the Censor Board objected to.

The Review Committee’s “Double Standards”

In an interview with News18, Kangana was asked about the “double standards” of the censor board. During the conversation, the host claimed that in the Netflix series IC814: Kandahar Hijack, the names of the terrorists were changed but no edits were made, and on the one hand his film has not been greenlit. In response, she was asked if this is a “double standard” of the censor board, and Kangana made a statement on this.

Kangana said that the censor board is an unnecessary body and does not have any work, but she believes that OTT platforms should be governed by the censor board. He said, “Technically, frankly, the censor board we are in now has become an unnecessary body. “I had raised this issue in the last parliamentary session as well.

Kangana further said that the type of content that is being served on YouTube for our children is a cause for concern. He said, “The content that is shown on OTT, the content that is being served on YouTube for children, sometimes there is a concern about what a child might see. Just by paying, you can access any channel. It is a cause for concern. We are very upset with the censors, why do you want to bleed? Why is it being cut there? So I think we should think about it again. If there is anyone who needs censorship the most, it is the OTT platforms.” ,

Kangana also said that she had raised the issue in Parliament House but people did not pay much attention to it. She also said, “I just hope that OTT will implement censorship soon so that the country will benefit.”

What dispute happened?

A controversy has erupted on social media over the names of the terrorists in director Anubhav Sinha’s web series IC814: The Kandahar Hijack. In the series, the terrorists did not use their real names but used code names that they kept during the hijacking. Their names shown in the series were the same as the names actually given by the terrorists, but some people raised objections to the names of the two terrorists as their names were Bora and Shankar. However, after the controversy, Netflix also inserted a disclaimer before the series which included the real names of the terrorists.

Talking about Kangana’s film Emergency, her film is yet to be approved by the censor board. His film is ready to hit the screens on September 6, 2024, but the censor board has refused to give a certificate to his film.
