The US presidential election is less than two months away. Voters will cast their votes on November 5. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump will face off in their first presidential debate this week. The debate will be hosted on ABC News and moderated by journalists David Muir and Linsey Davis.

This is not the first debate for Donald Trump in this election. He had earlier debated with the current President Joe Biden. After a poor performance in that debate, questions were raised on Biden’s fitness for the presidential race. Finally, on July 21, Biden himself withdrew and supported the current US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Where will the first Harris-Trump debate take place?

Harris officially clinched the Democratic nomination at the Democratic National Convention (DNC), held from August 19–22 in Chicago, where she chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.

The first Harris-Trump debate will be hosted by ABC News at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, with the two candidates agreeing on the format and rules of the event. Here’s everything you need to know about the second presidential debate:

What time does the debate start?

According to Indian time, this debate will start on Wednesday at 6:30 am.

Who are the moderators?

The presidential debate will be moderated by two ABC News anchors – David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Where will the debate take place?

The debate will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is one of the seven swing states and the result of the debate can help determine the election result. The last debate between Biden and Trump was held in Georgia. On June 27, they faced each other at the CNN studio in Atlanta.

What are the rules of the presidential debate?

-This will be the first debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. This will be a 90-minute debate with two breaks.

-Only that candidate’s mic will be on at a given time and while one candidate is speaking, the other will remain muted.

-Only the moderator will be allowed to ask questions.

-After winning the coin flip, Trump has decided to give a closing statement. Whereas Harris has chosen the podium which will be visible on the right side of the TV screen.

-There will be no opening statement and both the candidates will get two minutes for the closing statement.

-Each candidate will have two minutes to answer each question, followed by two minutes for rebuttal and an additional minute for clarification or response.

-Candidates will stand behind the podium throughout the debate and no props or notes will be allowed on stage.

-They will only be given a pen, a pad of paper and a bottle of water.

-Workers involved in election campaign will not be allowed to interact with the candidates during the break.

Which topics will be included in the debate?

This time both the candidates can be asked questions on any topic. ABC News has not disclosed these topics.

The debate will be broadcast on ABC News and networks like CNN, CBS, Fox News, NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, PBS and BBC. In India, it will be live streamed on ABC News’ YouTube channel.

When will the next debate be?

This will probably be the last presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump before the election. However, the vice presidential debate will still take place. Kamala Harris’s running mate Tim Walz and Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance will face off on CBS News on October 1.
