The country’s next Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, while addressing a farewell ceremony on the last working day of the current CJI DY, praised his outstanding contributions. In his farewell speech, he further said, “When the great trees of the Forest of Justice recede, the birds cease to sing.” The wind begins to blow in different ways, and the remaining trees shift positions to fill the void. But the forest will never be the same again. He further said that this change will be deeply felt from Monday. There will be an echo of emptiness in the pillars of the courtroom. Not only that, but there will be an echo of peace in the hearts of lawyers and judges.
Speaking further, he said, “The Constitutional Court has made 38 decisions, two of which were announced today, a record that will never be broken.”
