Udhampur MP and Union Minister Jitendra Singh participated in the ‘Panchayat Aaj Tak’ program on Thursday. He answered all the questions asked about the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections in the session titled ‘Will the lotus bloom in Kashmir?’ Jitendra Singh expressed his views on the questions of how the BJP will perform in the Union Territory and what is its probability of forming the government.

On being asked about the opposition making an issue of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to CJI DY Chandrachud’s house for Ganesh Utsav, Jitendra Singh said, ‘The reality is that the opposition has no other issue and it is election time. This is not the first time that this has happened, iftar parties used to be held during the UPA government. Judges used to go there, Chief Justices also used to go. When Manmohan Singh held an iftar party, Justice Bala Subramaniam also went. The second thing is that if there is a function in someone’s house, say a wedding, is the judge also restricted to not invite anyone? After all, he is also a part of the society.’

He said, ‘A person holding a constitutional post also has a social life, which should not be linked with his work. Tomorrow you will say that a judge cannot even get his children married. Because who knows who all will attend the wedding. Among them there will be ministers, MPs, officers. Who knows who is taking advantage of whom. So I feel that this is being made an issue without any reason. It is not right to do politics on this. If a constitutional institution becomes corrupt due to someone’s meetings, then it means that it is not strong. If the executive and the judiciary cooperate with each other in nation building, then what is wrong in it?’
