Judge, Governor, UGC Chief… ‘Honourable’ helpless in front of violent mob in Bangladesh, resignation is not stopping

On Saturday, the mob did not even spare the Supreme Court and entered the premises and threatened the Chief Justice to resign. Ultimately the Chief Justice had to resign. Along with him, 5 other judges also resigned. But this story is not limited to this. In Bangladesh, officials from small to big positions are facing this crisis.

BSEC Chief had to resign

Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam also had to tender his resignation. He sent his resignation to Financial Institutions Division Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rahman Khan on Saturday night.

The governor also resigned

Bangladesh Bank Governor Abdur Rauf Talukdar has also resigned from his post. He cited personal reasons in his resignation. But the truth is that the way the crowd was continuously demanding his resignation. Because of that he had to resign.

UGC Chairman also submitted his resignation

University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Professor Qazi Shahidullah has resigned from his post. He sent his resignation to the Education Ministry on Sunday. He was elected as UGC Chairman on May 28 last year. Kazi Shahidullah previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of the National University of Bangladesh during 2009–2013.

Let us tell you that on Saturday, Chief Justice of Bangladesh Obaidul Hasan and five other judges of the top appellate division had resigned. There was a massive demonstration of students on the streets demanding reforms in the judiciary. Syed Refaat Ahmed has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of Bangladesh. The students alleged that the Chief Justice was close to former PM Sheikh Hasina.

People are also robbing banks

At least five people were injured when miscreants opened fire during a protest in front of the head office of Islami Bank PLC in Dhaka on Sunday. Officials said employees were protesting against bank robbers and robbers when the attack occurred. The miscreants opened fire on the crowd and fled from the spot.

Many officers resigned
