During the quarrel, a glass bottle fell from the table of Kayan Banerjee. According to sources, Kalyana Banerjee’s hand was also injured. There was also commotion at the meeting earlier Monday. During the presentation by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, heated arguments and scuffles broke out between lawmakers from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the National Democratic Alliance and those from the opposition parties. Opposition MPs claimed that the bill was introduced only for political reasons and targeted the Muslim community. During this period, a heated debate took place between the BJP MPs and the Opposition MPs.

The meeting began with Asaduddin Owaisi introducing the proposal for the Waqf Bill before the JPC for about an hour and citing its shortcomings. A heated argument ensued between Owaisi and the BJP MPs when Owaisi delivered his speech. The meeting on the waqf bill lasted about seven hours amid din.
