Shanpai Soren and Hemant Soren
After returning to power in Jharkhand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is now gearing up to once again attack the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The JMM is working on a plan to recall leaders who left the party before the elections. Former chief minister Champai Soren’s name tops the list.
Champai Soren left the JMM before the elections and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Hemant Soren is now said to be busy getting all his senior leaders back like Mamata Banerjee. After her victory in Bengal in 2021, Mamata brought back many big leaders who switched from TMC to the BJP.
Why is Champai Soren’s name being discussed?
Champai Soren is currently the MLA from Seraikelan assembly seat. Champai is the former CM of Jharkhand and a founding member of JMM. This time, the JMM alliance won only one seat out of the 28 seats reserved for tribals. That seat is Seraikela of Champai Soren.
After the Jharkhand elections, JMM national general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya issued a statement on his return. Supriyo said if Champai Dada wants to come, we will welcome him. The doors of JMM will be open for him.
Neither man was an attacker on the campaign trail
Even during the campaign, Hemant Soren did not attack Champai. On the other hand, the Shanpai did not make any personal attacks on the Hemant and Sauron families throughout the election process.
Not only this, Birsa Munda’s great-grandson passed away at RIMS Hospital in Ranchi on Friday. He lived here after being injured in a traffic accident. The BJP accused the hospital of negligence in the matter.
From Babu Lal Marandi to Arjun Munda, everyone cornered the government on this matter, but Champai did not question the government in the entire incident .
Regarding Champai, two types of discussions are going on in Ranchi political circles.
1. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha can get Champai Soren an MLA status from the Sarakram seat by offering him political opportunities in Delhi. Babu Lal Soren, son of Champai Soren, contested on the BJP symbol from Gazila seat this time but lost.
2. As before, Champai should join JMM and become a minister in Hemant Soren’s government.
Leaders have also returned to China
Simon Marandi and Hemlal Murmu left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha to join the BJP in the 2014 elections. Both leaders are considered powerful leaders within the JMM. Prior to 2019, JMM had two leaders returning.
Recently, Kunal Shadangi, former member of the Bahagora Assembly, returned. Shadanji was once considered to be close to Hemant Soren. Ahead of the 2019 assembly elections, Shadanji left the JMM and joined the BJP.
These leaders also joined the BJP
There are many leaders who left Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and joined the BJP. Shibu Soren’s eldest daughter-in-law Sita Soren joined the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Sita lost the Lok Sabha elections in Dumka and the Assembly elections in Jamtala.
Likewise, Borio MLA Lobin Hembram also left the JMM and joined the BJP ahead of the assembly elections. However, Hembram also failed to win the election for the Borio seat.
Former MLA from Littipara seat Dinesh William Marandi also left the JMM and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP could not win even in Litipala.
