Two women were injured in an explosion that occurred near a security forces camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday. Officials said that the injured women have been identified as Nahida Akhtar and Afroza Begum. Both are residents of Chek Keegam in Gujarpati area of Kupwara. Officials said the injured women were taken to a hospital in Handwara, from where they were referred to a hospital in Srinagar for better medical care. 2 battalions of Assam Rifles will be sent to Jammu
Amidst the continuous increase in terrorist attacks in Jammu region, the Center has decided to transfer 2 battalions of Assam Rifles to Jammu region to strengthen the security grid. 2 battalions of Assam Rifles from Manipur will be transferred to Jammu region.
Recently, 3000 additional army personnel and 2000 BSF personnel were also deployed in Jammu region to strengthen the security grid. Sources say that around 40-50 trained Pakistani terrorists are hiding in the upper areas of Doda, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and other places. Therefore, additional troops are being deployed in the Jammu region as part of major anti-terrorist operations.
Earlier, news had come that the Home Ministry has taken major action against BSF Director General Nitin Agarwal and he has been removed from the post. At the same time, BSF Special DG YB Khurania has also been removed and sent back to Odisha cadre. Whereas Nitin Agarwal has been sent back to his native cadre Kerala. The Home Ministry has called this step premature repatriation.
