Jammu and Kashmir is going to hold assembly elections for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370. The BJP is putting its full strength into this election. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah will address three rallies in Chenab Valley on Monday, the last day of the first phase of election campaigning in Jammu and Kashmir.

First, the Home Minister will address a public meeting at the Chhattargarh Stadium in Nagseni Assembly in Padar at 1.30 pm and from here he will proceed to Kishtwar where BJP leaders will address a mega public meeting at the Parade Ground at 3 pm. Finally, the Home Minister will address a rally at Ramban Assembly constituency at 4.30 pm to seek support from BJP candidates.

Introducing the plan, BJP spokesperson and media centre in-charge Arun Kumar Gupta said the home minister will address three rallies in Ramban, Kishtwar and Padar on September 16. Earlier, he released the BJP’s assembly election manifesto and addressed a workers’ meeting during his two-day visit to Jammu on September 6-7.

Meanwhile, PM Modi on Saturday addressed his maiden election rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. While addressing the gathering in Doda in the state, PM Modi lashed out at the PDP, the Congress and the National Conference.

The Prime Minister will hold a rally on September 25

Union Minister Kishan Reddy said the Prime Minister will visit Jammu and Kashmir again before the second phase of voting on September 25 and the third phase on October 1 and address an election rally.

Besides the home and defence ministers, BJP national president and Union minister JP Nadda is also set to campaign in Jammu on September 20. “Seeing the huge response from the people, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the BJP will form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir,” Reddy said.

Polling to be held for 8 seats in first phase

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will begin on September 18 with voting for eight assembly seats in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban in the first phase. For this, campaigning will be stopped from tonight. The Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections will be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will be done on October 8. After a decade, assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir, which is now a union territory.

The central government abrogated Article 370 and Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019, following which the government claimed that peace had come. However, in recent months, there has been an increase in terrorist activities here, and security forces have been conducting operations against them. Till today, the security team has killed two terrorists.
