Reliance Jio is flying the flag high again. The country’s largest telecommunications company has left the world’s largest company behind for the third time in a row. Reliance Jio has been ahead of Airtel, China Mobile, China Unicom and Vodafone Idea in mobile data traffic for the past nine months. International consulting and research firm Tefficient said Jio’s mobile data traffic increased by 24% year-on-year.
Mobile data traffic is growing rapidly
The report shows that mobile data traffic of other telecom companies such as Airtel increased by 23% year-on-year. At the same time, China Mobile’s mobile data traffic increased by only 2% year-on-year. Tefficient said in its X post that Jio lagged behind all telcos in the world in terms of mobile data traffic for the third consecutive quarter.
Jio suffers losses in case
However, Reliance Jio’s subscriber count has declined in the past three months. Especially after mobile plans became expensive in July, Jio has lost 11 million users, or about 110 million users. The company’s user base in the April-June quarter was 489.7 million, which fell to 478.8 million in the quarter ended July-September. At the same time, Jio’s number of 5G users has increased significantly.
The company has received funding of Rs 148 million (Rs 148 million) in just two years. Jio is the world’s largest 5G operator outside China. The report states that each Jio user consumes 31GB of data per month. At the same time, the company’s average revenue per user (ARPU) also increased 18%.
BSNL users increase
The biggest job BSNL has done is to penetrate Jio’s user base. In the past few months, the number of subscribers of the government telecom company has increased by 5.5 million. BSNL added 3 million new mobile users in July and 2.5 million new mobile users in August.
