A worker died after a grinder cut part of his neck while working in an under-construction building in Palamu district on Tuesday, police said.

Police said an FIR has been registered against the building owner Purushottam Kumar Tiwari, who fled the spot after the incident. City police officer-in-charge Debabrata Poddar said that according to the FIR filed by the victim’s family, the laborer, Niranjan Prajapati (24), had gone to Tiwari’s house to collect the money he was due.

“But Tiwari hired him to work in a building he was constructing,” Poddar said, quoting the victim’s family. While working, he said, part of his neck was cut by a grinder and he was admitted to a private hospital, He was later transferred to Medinila Medical College and Hospital, where he died during treatment.

Just a day ago, a similar case occurred in Patna in which a worker lost his life. An accident occurred in a metro tunnel in Patna, the capital of Bihar state. The locomotive ran over three workers while picking up the truck. The motorcycle’s brakes failed, causing the accident. Two workers died, some were rescued, and two workers were injured. There were 25 workers working at the time.
